Ctenanthe burle-marxii, a close relative to Maranta, Calathea and Stromanthe, is a compact houseplant that makes a bold tropical statement. Its bright green leaves are striped with alternating lance-shaped bands representing fishbones, and have deep purple undersides and slender stems.
